Jan 26 sunrise 1 tight crop by robert952 Jan 26 sunrise 1 tight crop by robert952
Technically speaking, this sunrise could not occur naturally.  The reason?  Look near the left near the tree.  You will see 4 (plus one being created) jet contrails.  You can follow the contrails across the image since the sunlight reflects off of them. What caught my attention are the almost perfectly spaced parallel lines created.  And so this sunrise could not occur naturally.

(Well, I guess meteorologically, a very specific set of conditions could occur but the odds would be phenomenally against it happening.)

Even though it's not natural, IMHO, a nice sunrise.

And in case you are interested, shot with a Samsung Galaxy 5. Only cropped the image in GIMP, no other retouching.  I've only had this 'smart phone' for a couple of months.  I am amazed at the photo quality.

I usually arrive at the office the same time daily and have seen some awesome sunrises.  But I don't carry a camera.  Now that I have the smart phone which is an excellent 'point and shoot' camera, I may be capturing more as the office has a pretty good eastern facing and up above the highway in front of it.  Only some pesky power lines get in the way (as you can see in the image.)

For those into things astronomical, look up in the predawn sky and see all five naked eye planets (Mercury, Venus, Saturn Mars and Jupiter).  They will be spread out along the ecliptic, so you may have to find a very wide viewing area or look for them specifically.  Read more here:  earthsky.org/astronomy-essenti… .  (I lectured at a planetarium as a week end job when I was in high school.  I like keeping up with things astronomical.)

Sorry for the (very) late reply.
I really appreciated your link :)

I still have a very old smart phone (GalaxyS2) and I think we will upgrade to the new one soon since we really love to take pictures :)
